Career highlights
John is one of the UK's biggest names in comedy, but his acting CV stretches back as far as 2008's Skins (2009-10), followed by parts in Route Irish (2010), Accused (2012), Fearless (2017), Funny Cow (2017) and Next Exit (2022). He first performed stand-up comedy in 2000, and since then has appeared on various comedy programmes on TV, including Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Live at the Apollo and panel shows such as Would I Lie to You? and Have I Got News for You. John is a former footballer, having played for teams such as Crewe Alexandra, Runcorn, Rhyl, Southport, Stalybridge, Caernarfon and Holywell Town.
