Jodie - whose middle name is Auckland, and is named after the American actress Jodie Foster - is married to fellow actor Christian Contreras. She shares her birthday with fellow Broadchurch star (and former Doctor Who companion) Arthur Darvill. Jodie was the aunt of the late child actor Harry Whittaker, who appeared as baby Leo Goskirk in soap Emmerdale between 2011-14. Harry had Down's Syndrome, and tragically died of a chronic lung infection aged three. Jodie performed a cover of Coldplay's A Sky Full of Stars in Harry's memory on Children in Need in 2020. As a big fan of Coldplay, Jodie had already performed a cover of the track Yellow for the 2019 Children in Need album Got It Covered (other Doctor Who luminaries on the album include Olivia Colman, Shaun Dooley, Jim Broadbent, Suranne Jones and David Tennant).
