Julia's first husband was Lionel Morton, presenter on children's shows such as Play Away and Play School, and a member of the 1960s band The Four Pennies. Her second husband is celebrity vet Bruce Fogle, with whom she has two children (one of which is TV presenter/ adventurer Ben Fogle). The 15-year gap in her screen CV is down to the fact Julia ran an antique furniture shop, specialising in 18th and 19th century Scandinavian painted furniture. Julia may also be remembered for her appearance with director Michael Winner in a TV ad for Esure in 2003 ("Calm down, dear!"). In 2017, Julia almost died after an epidural went wrong and all of her organs began to fail. She was given a tracheotomy to save her life, and spent the next five months in hospital recovering, having to relearn how to walk and speak.
