Facts
Edna's husband was fellow actor and writer Alexander Doré. Edna specialised in characters affected by the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, which she portrayed to much acclaim in EastEnders, High Hopes and Gavin and Stacey. When she was picking up her European Film award in Paris, she was called up to the stage as "Edna Door" (her surname had an accent over the "e"). As she left clutching her prize, she muttered: "You'd think that at least in Paris they'd pronounce my bloody name right."

Facts
Huw's father was author Hywel Teifi Edwards, a research professor for Welsh language literature at the University of Swansea. In 2023, Huw was suspended from the BBC after tabloids revealed he had paid a teenager more than £35,000 since they were 17 for "sordid pictures". While representatives of the teenager stated nothing untoward happened (the teenager was estranged from their mother and stepfather, who made the allegations), the scandal resulted in Huw being submitted to hospital for treatment for depression. In 2024, the BBC edited Huw out of the Doctor Who episode Fear Her after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, some in the age seven-to-nine age category.
